The appointment of Eric Chelle as the new head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles has generated mixed reactions from sports analysts and the public in Taraba state.

Some are optimistic about his ability to lead the national team to success, while others are skeptical.
Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo, former deputy president of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), expressed confidence in Chelle’s potential, pointing to his successful stint with the Mali national team, as well as his experience in Algeria and France.

Moyoyo believes the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has done its due diligence and that Chelle could thrive if Nigerians rally behind him and support his efforts.
However, sports journalist Tanko Bauka questioned whether Chelle could meet the high expectations of Nigerian football fans.

Bauka acknowledged Chelle’s credentials but cautioned that the pressure from fans might hinder his success, citing previous failed attempts with foreign coaches.
He urged the NFF to provide Chelle with ample support and encouraged players to cooperate with him for the betterment of the national team.

Ben Adaji, a sports analyst in the state, criticized the NFF for not giving Nigerian coaches the opportunity to manage the Super Eagles, despite the availability of qualified local talent.
Adaji also called for more patriotism from the NFF and a focus on selecting coaches and players who genuinely care about the country’s football development.

Overall, while there is hope for Chelle’s success, the general sentiment is that he will need strong support and realistic expectations to lead Nigeria to greater heights.
