The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) has realised over ₦47 million from the sale of nomination forms for the forthcoming chairmanship and councillorship elections across the state.
Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Philip Duwe, made this known at the weekend when he led members of the Commission on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Takum, Sopiya Ahmadu Gboshi, at his palace in Takum Local Government Area.
He dismissed insinuations that the exercise was designed to prevent some political parties from accessing the forms, stressing that all processes undertaken by TSIEC were strictly in accordance with the law establishing the Commission.
Duwe further disclosed that the screening of candidates would commence early next week, assuring that the Commission would adhere strictly to the rules and guidelines governing the process.
While extolling the leadership qualities of the Chief of Takum, Duwe prayed for God’s continued wisdom and guidance for the monarch.

In his remarks, Chief Gboshi commended the Commission for the visit and pledged his support for its activities. He expressed appreciation to Governor Agbu Kefas for standing by his commitment to ensure the conduct of local government elections in Taraba State.
The monarch, however, urged his subjects to embrace tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the overall interest of unity and development.
