Sen. Buba – Sept. 22, 2025

The Plateau Progressive Movement has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Senator Shehu Umar Buba, Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, over alleged links with bandits.

In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Dachum Daniel Kajang, the group accused the Bauchi South lawmaker of inciting violence in Toro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas, as well as aiding criminal groups.

According to the group, credible reports and eyewitness accounts indicated that Senator Buba had facilitated medical treatment for injured fighters and allegedly moved arms and motorcycles from his residence to Zamfara.

“Such actions betray the trust of the people and embolden criminal elements. His continued presence in the Senate Committee on National Security is untenable,” the statement read.

The group insisted that allowing him to remain in office despite the allegations would send a dangerous signal that political power shields individuals from accountability.
