Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has restated his administration’s commitment to good governance, infrastructural development, and press freedom.
He made this known on Monday when he received the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Abdullahi Yahaya, during a courtesy visit at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.
Speaking at the Exco Chamber, Governor Kefas said his government was determined to build a strong foundation for sustainable development in the state through inclusiveness, education, and infrastructural expansion.
“We are focused on uniting Taraba, upgrading infrastructure, and ensuring that the press plays a key role in our development journey,” Kefas said. “My government is open to constructive criticism and welcomes collaboration with the media to ensure transparency and accountability.”
He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to free and compulsory education, describing it as a cornerstone for the state’s long-term progress.
In his remarks, the NUJ President commended the governor for his developmental efforts and inclusive policies, which he said had given journalists in the state a sense of belonging.
Comrade Yahaya noted that he had inspected several completed and ongoing projects and lauded the government’s achievements in key areas such as security, education, and infrastructure.
According to him, projects such as the upgrade of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, the Taraba Green House Project, the newly renovated Taraba State House of Assembly complex, and the TY Danjuma House reflect the administration’s commitment to public welfare.

“The people of Taraba now move around freely, a clear sign of the improved security landscape under your leadership,” he said.
In recognition of the governor’s achievements in peace and security, the NUJ President announced that Dr. Agbu Kefas would be conferred with the ‘Security Man of the Year’ award.
