The Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, Hon. Moses Maihankali, who double the Chairman Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has expressed sympathy with the government and people of Wukari Local Government Area following the fire incident that destroyed the Wukari Local Government Secretariat.
Hon. Maihankali who was speaking with journalists in Jalingo on Sunday, during the wedding reception of Mr. and Mrs. Peter John Audu, describing the incident as a painful development that has disrupted the administrative operations of the council.

He said the fire outbreak resulted in the loss of vital documents and properties, stressing that ALGON stands in solidarity with the Chairman and people of Wukari in the face of the unfortunate incident.
“We stand with the Chairman and people of Wukari during this difficult time. The incident has caused significant damage to essential documents and properties, and ALGON will work with relevant authorities to ensure measures are put in place to prevent future occurrences,” he said.
On the cause of the fire, Maihankali noted that investigations were ongoing, adding that the circumstances surrounding the incident were yet to be fully established.

The ALGON chairman emphasised the need for improved emergency preparedness and stricter fire safety measures in government facilities, calling on stakeholders to support both immediate relief efforts and long-term preventive strategies.
He also congratulated the newly married couple, advising them to embrace patience, mutual love and understanding, while urging the people of Taraba State to make meaningful New Year resolutions and remain hopeful and steadfast in faith as the state looks ahead.
