The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says its Spectrum Roadmap for 2026 to 2030, alongside plans to open the lower 6 gigahertz (6GHz) and 60 gigahertz (60GHz) bands, will enhance faster and more reliable connectivity across the country.
The Commission noted that the roadmap is designed to support next-generation wireless technologies and expand broadband capacity nationwide.
According to the NCC, opening the additional spectrum bands will enable telecommunications operators to deploy advanced networks, reduce congestion, and improve quality of service for consumers as demand for data continues to rise.
The initiative also aligns with the Federal Government’s digital economy agenda and demonstrates commitment to efficient spectrum management, innovation, and sustainable growth in the telecommunications sector.
The NCC further stated that the roadmap would strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global digital space while supporting emerging technologies such as 5G and future connectivity solutions.
