The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has met ten major demands put forward by striking workers, following a series of negotiations aimed at resolving the industrial action that has disrupted services within the nation’s capital.
NEWSPOINTER gathered that the breakthrough was achieved after sustained engagements between officials of the FCTA and representatives of the affected labour unions, with discussions centred on workers’ welfare, allowances, and conditions of service.
Sources close to the negotiations disclosed that the concessions granted by the FCTA include the settlement of outstanding entitlements, commitments to improved working conditions, and assurances on the implementation of agreed salary-related issues in line with extant government policies.
The FCTA, while reaffirming its commitment to industrial harmony, assured the workers of its willingness to continue dialogue and honour all agreements reached, stressing that a stable workforce is critical to effective service delivery in the Federal Capital Territory.
Union leaders, on their part, confirmed the progress made in the talks but said consultations were still ongoing with their members to determine the next course of action, including the possibility of suspending the strike.
The industrial action had affected several essential services across the FCT, raising concerns among residents and prompting calls for an urgent resolution.
