President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of three ambassadors-designate from the 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December 2025, in a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement with key global partners.
The development signals a renewed drive by the administration to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy and advance bilateral priorities in strategic capitals.
Those cleared for deployment include Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Colonel Lateef Are as Ambassador to the United States of America, and Amin Dalhatu as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
The three countries occupy central positions in Nigeria’s foreign relations framework, with longstanding ties spanning trade, defence cooperation, education, technology and development partnerships.
Presidency sources said the postings are expected to bolster Nigeria’s representation in critical missions while supporting ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment, strengthen security collaboration and expand economic diplomacy.
France remains a key partner in regional security and economic cooperation, particularly in West Africa, while the United States plays a significant role in Nigeria’s security support, governance initiatives and commercial relations.
The United Kingdom also maintains deep institutional and historical links with Nigeria, including strong trade relations, diaspora connections and development cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been directed to formally notify the host governments in line with established diplomatic procedures. Additional postings from the list of confirmed ambassadors are expected to be announced in phases.
