The Bauchi State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a renowned Islamic scholar and spiritual leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who died in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 102.
The respected cleric, widely acclaimed within and outside Nigeria for his vast Islamic knowledge and lifelong dedication to teaching, reportedly passed away at his residence in Bauchi.
In a condolence message, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, described the late scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, as an iconic figure of faith, humility, and wisdom whose lifetime commitment to Islamic propagation positively shaped generations.
Governor Mohammed noted that the deceased established numerous Qur’anic schools and learning centres, through which thousands of students were trained, with many becoming prominent teachers and preachers of Islam across Africa. He stressed that the contributions of the late Sheikh to Islamic theology, jurisprudence, and scholarship remain invaluable and enduring.
According to the governor, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was not only a custodian of religious knowledge but also a strong advocate of peace, unity, tolerance, and moral uprightness within society.
He assured that the Bauchi State Government would continue to uphold and support initiatives that promote Islamic education and community development, in line with the vision and legacy of the late scholar.
