Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has felicitated with the Christian community in the state and across the world on the occasion of the 2025 Christmas celebration, describing the season as a reminder of the enduring values of love, peace, sacrifice and tolerance.
In his Christmas goodwill message, the governor said the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ offers an opportunity for reflection on virtues that unite humanity, irrespective of faith or background, while calling on the people of Gombe State to continue to promote peaceful coexistence.
Governor Yahaya noted that the state has remained a shining example of interfaith harmony, where people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds live and work together in mutual respect and understanding
He said the festive season underscores the power of love, compassion and selflessness, which are central to the teachings of Jesus Christ and remain critical to sustaining peace, unity and harmony in the state and the nation.
The governor, who is also Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, urged Christians to use the Christmas period to pray fervently for peace, unity, stability and prosperity in Gombe State, the North and Nigeria at large, especially at a time when collective resilience is required to overcome economic, security and social challenges.
He further called on residents to remain steadfast in supporting government programmes and policies aimed at improving the wellbeing and quality of life of the people.
Reassuring the Christian community, Governor Yahaya reiterated his administration’s commitment to religious tolerance, equity and inclusion, stressing that no segment of society would be left behind in the ongoing transformation of Gombe State.
He also noted that the government has continued its tradition of extending practical support to communities during festive periods to ease the burden of celebration and promote solidarity.
The governor wished Christians in Gombe State and beyond a peaceful, joyous and fulfilling Christmas, while calling on all citizens to recommit themselves to the ideals of unity, brotherhood and peaceful coexistence for the continued progress of the state.
